Making Theoretically Informed Choices in Specifying Panel‐Data Models

چکیده

We argue that in analyzing panel-data econometric models, researchers rely excessively on statistical criteria to determine model specification, treating it primarily as a matter of inference. This inferential emphasis is most obvious the common practice using tests (e.g., Hausman test) choose between fixed- and random-effects specifications, often ignoring assumptions underpinning these tests. For instance, test depends true within-panel (longitudinal) between-panel (cross-sectional) parameters being equal. assumption not justified, because longitudinal cross-sectional variances covariances may manifest different mechanisms. In addition mechanisms resulting variables determining within effects, also have meanings. To help make theoretically informed choices, we formulate five questions can guide think specification rigorous way. examine issues with examples from both general management operations research. Importantly, addressing regarding must involve theoretical contextual judgment,

Designing theoretically-informed implementation interventions

Clinical and health services research is continually producing new findings that may contribute to effective and efficient patient care. However, the transfer of research findings into practice is unpredictable and can be a slow and haphazard process. Ideally, the choice of implementation strategies would be based upon evidence from randomised controlled trials or systematic reviews of a given ...

CrowdSurf: Empowering Informed Choices in the Web

When surfing the Internet, individuals leak personal and corporate information to third parties whose (legitimate or not) businesses revolve around the value of collected data. Making informed choices in social care: the importance of accessible information.

The current policy trend is to encourage greater choice in the use of welfare services. To make informed choices, people need information. Playful Mobility Choices: Motivating informed mobility decision making by applying game mechanics

Motivating people to change their mobility behaviour patterns towards more sustainable forms of mobility is one of the major challenges regarding climate change and quality of life. Recently, an increasing amount of attempts to use gamification for triggering such behavioural changes can be observed. However, little is known about the actual impact of using game elements. This contribution desc...
